My parents and I went on a lovely road trip to our home town for a few days over Christmas.
While I was there I decided to break out my lovely new camera and take some touristy shots of my home town.
On the first day my mother and I went for a little walk to soak up some lovely sun. The wind was picking up due to ex-tropical cyclone Fina a few days before Christmas. The picture below is rare these days due to breakwaters this section of the harbour usually doesn't get waves, the open beaches were much to rough for holidaying swimmers.

Walking along the breakwater to the Seafood Co-op to get some Prawns for dinner, we got sidetracked but the waves.

Only a few surfers in the water on Christmas Day, many surfers stayed away waiting for the Boxing Day waves but they were too erratic to ride unless on a Body Board.

Everyone turned out to see the large waves smash the Breakwater at the foreshore.

Gt to love Daylight Savings sundown well into the evening. Unlike us in QLD, 1 hour behind.

Near the holiday apartments there is a Christmas/New Year fair every year.
This is the lovely Ferris Wheel.

The view back over the town of Coffs Harbour from up on Mutton Bird Island, where the Shearwaters nest is just stunning early in the morning. The island I am on is a National Park to protect the birds who only come to shore to nest.

This pier was rebuilt in 1970 so that Queen Elizabeth II could arrive on Britannia.
Now the locals and tourists a like have picnics and jump off the pier into the cool water.

Just trying to be a little arty. I love the colours of the rusted bolts on the weathered wood.
Just gorgeous.

I hope you had a lovely Christmas, either in cool climates or warm.
Tomorrow I will be uploading my best holiday snaps of 2011, ready for a fresh start in 2012.
