The Day the music died.

Early in the morning on this day some 53 years ago three very influential musicians died in a tragic plane crash.  I love 50's fashion but 50's music is my real retro love. These guys helped lay the foundation to make Rock n Roll music and Pop Music and culture what it is today.
Whenever I hear the following songs I have a little tear of sadness  before smiling about what great wholesome songs they are.

Buddy Holly: Brilliant artist with great glasses. (Died aged only 22years)

The Big Bopper: A former radio DJ that decided he could do a better job then the records he was playing, funnily enough it was a B side track that made him a star. (Died aged 28)

Ritchie Valens: This is the most tragic, a young man not even old enough to drink in most parts of the world, taken before he could show the world what he was really about. Imagine if he'd been alive when Elvis was releasing his first single. (Died aged just 17yrs old)

These young men were younger then me and their importance in music history and music pop culture should not be forgotten.

Many of you have heard the song written by Don McLean "American Pie" it references many of the important moments in pop culture from his youth. The plane crash that took these young lives was just one reference
