Well I have been off work all last week, sometimes it's a pain doing what I do because I end up spending a lot of time sitting around waiting and by the time I find out whether I'm working or not it's too late to make plans.
I decided that I should be a bit proactive and do some cooking as there are loads of recipes I've been sitting on for ages and never seem to have time to cook.
So Friday I decided to attack two recipes and surprise my parents with a lovely dinner.
I made a lovely Blackberry Almond Clafoutis:

A Clafoutis is a French pudding made traditionally with Cherries, but I am loving fresh summer berries at the moment, I am eating berry smoothies every morning for breakfast and berry and oat muffins for morning tea. So I changed this recipe for Blackberries and it was melt in your mouth devine.
I also got some lovely fresh muscles and made Chili, Ginger and Garlic Mussles with a white wine sauce, soaked up with crusty fresh bread:

Sunday I was still feeling like baking something and despite it being really rather warm, I decided to break out from lovely grainy flour and make a loaf of bread. I felt really good after hand kneading the dough and the house smelled amazing. While it was cooking, I made it in a damper style so I cold have some rich Golden Syrup drizzled over the warm pieces out of the oven.

I was in fresh food heaven this weekend, I'm already thinking about the recipes for next weekend. I might make something for a big family dinner. I'd love to try another pie dish, but cooking a pie in an Australian summer does seem a little bit mad.
