I know this makes me sound like a raging alcoholic but the truth is I have bar tending in my blood. Well bar tending and truck driving. My Grandfather ran a country pub before turning to truck driving, as the pub he owned was a few towns over from his house. When my parents met they worked in bars until after I was born. When my brother and I went over seas separately we both worked in pubs for a few months and so have many of my cousins.
As a bar tender I love to try new things and that is easy peasey being in Australia. We have really great bottle shops (also called Off Licence's in the UK), every time I go down to my local I find so many beverages from around the world. It doesn't matter if I am getting a bottle of wine for dinner or getting drinks for a party, I always try and get at least one bottle of something new.
So today I decided to try this cider: Pipsqueak Best Cider
It is an Australian Brewed Cider. It is brewed by the company Little Creatures Team.
Can you tell you why I chose this one today? Yep it was the picture. This picture is just lovely but I am gutted, I was working on a painting for the title on my blog and it turns out it looks just like this. So while this is a totally gorgeous picture, I'm very upset because it looks just like what I wanted. But i'll get over it and rethink. Start something new tomorrow.
Ok the taste, well I loved the picture and the bottle top. But can you see the pale colour of the Cider itself? Well unfortunately for me this colour also means a weak taste. I'm a big fan of strong proper Cider and sometimes it goes a miss in Australian Ciders.
Don't get me wrong its just not my cup of tea. It's a little strong in alcoholic content and on a hot sunny day it will go down way too quickly leading to a a few drunk people at the picnic.
Anyway I'm glad I tried it. I still love the label. Give it ago if it is sold at your local. Let me know what you think.
