Painted Photographs

While I was on my lunch break today, I was trolling through news websites (my company does not allow access to most websites) and I found an article on the BBC website about a new show at the Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool.  The article is called Painted Photographs.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono, from the private collection of Martin Parr

The show is about photos that have been changed and painted for publication and publicity.  It shows how before the age of digital publishing the photos where changed and prepared from the original to use.  So it's the idea of photoshop back in the day.  These photos were used for work purposes but now they are being shown for art purposes.  I found this article really interesting. I also loved the comments, so much discussions about "what ART is".

It's interesting how they added details to the photographs and also cut people out like this one with John Lennon and cutting out Yoko Ono. It's interesting to see what is wanted in the picture, I guess it is just like modern editors Photoshopping backgrounds, outfit colours anything you want really.

I would love to know what your opinions are about this article.
