Knitting

Well 2 weeks ago I tried to crochet a scarf. I had a book and Youtube to help me out.  Unfortunately it didn't help. So I decided to knit the scarf, unfortunately I had knitted two other times in my life and couldn't remember what to do.

So I asked my mum, next problem is my mum is left handed and I am not. So everything she was showing was a round the wrong way. So I tried to knit the scarf about 8 times, the yarn was getting wreaked but I couldn't figure it out, and I gave up.  Then I tried again a few days later.  And it had sunk in. I managed to knit the scarf without any help. It took just over a week (I'm still not fast at knitting).
Here are some pictures of my efforts.

Just started 2nd Ball
This is the scarf after I had just started the 2nd ball.

Getting the pattern sorted
Here is a close up of the pattern. 5 knit 5 purl

Getting there
This was what it looked like this morning. I ended up only using one of those last balls. It is plenty long enough. Although a little wide.

Done
The finished job. I'm really happy with my effort. There are some weird holes where I dropped a stitch and found one somewhere else. You can only tell if you know where it is. I'm happy it looks so individual.

wearing it in Summer
Me wearing the scarf. It's a little thick, but when I eventually see the snow again it will be the perfect scarf.

Photobucket
This is the beginning of scarf number 2. My niece has started soccer this year and we found this coloured yarn in the store. It's 100% Acrylic, which isn't my favourite to use or wear, but she'll feel really special on those cold winter months in a team colours scarf.
