[Photo taken early Autumn in Wraysbury, UK]
Today in Australia is the first day of Autumn..... Apparently.
A horribly hot night last night and an expected 35 degrees today. I think I have to wait a little longer until the weather changes.
Unfortunately, here in Queensland we do not have season like other places in the world or even other places in the country.
Place like Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart have much cooler climates so those lucky citizens will be getting ready for a winter that is actually cold enough to wear gorgeous coats and boots and rug up with scarves and gloves. It will even get cold enough to snow in some Southern regions.
I'm totally jealous of those people who get to watch the colours change. Again the older foundation cities have parks and gardens full of European trees brought over in Victorian times. That means a heap of deciduous trees creating landscapes of yellow, orange and rustic red, in QLD it tends to be more native and is kind of like having ever green plants scatted around, they tend to lose leaves and re grow multiple times a year.
I understand that officially it is not Spring yet in the Northern Hemisphere. But in the UK at least Daffodils are starting to pop and so are other early signs that Spring might be around of the corner. However, last time I was in London in late Feb, I was studying the growth of Daffs all over London (some of my favourite flowers - I love that they represent Spring) then the second week I was there was the worst Snow in the UK in years, or course since then they have had very cold winters and loads of snow. But I thought it was definitely Spring coming with Daffs popping and the weather warming up, then all of a sudden the temp dropped 8 degrees and the snow came.
It was beautiful. I was staying in a village that day. I watched the children walk to school only to see them return 5 min later with the excitement of a snow day. Adults couldn't get to work the whole village had a snow day. It was amazing to see so many people out enjoying time together.
