The Village Green Preservation Society.

This song speaks to me about my love of English villages. I love seeing photos of them. I love watching telly shows set in English villages. And I really loved living in one.

I went to the UK not knowing a single soul and I ended up getting a job in a little village pub and it's amazing how quickly in this setting you can meet people. I loved how quickly I made friends and how the man at the corner shop knew the sorts of food I liked to buy, and the man at the post office knew that when I was asking for stamps it was to send things home to friends and family.

Here are some pictures of my lovely English village that I miss everyday.

Wraysbury High Street

Wraysbury Green

Nothing makes the village like a cricket green. I'm not sure who won the match, but I love how people bring the kids and have a picnic to watch the locals play.

Wraysbury Splash

This is a little walk way that takes you behind the green to the other side of the village. It means you can circle around the main roads.

Wraysbury Station

This is all there is to the Victorian Station. This bridge and a old under cover. When I left the pub I would stand under the bridge and wait every morning for the train to work or the train to Windsor or Staines to go shopping.

The George Inn

This is the pub that I started my English life in.  The window on the far right is where I lived for 4 months sharing the room with another worker. The pub itself needed some TLC but the punters where a funny bunch of slightly mad people. We had such a laugh, I can't wait to visit them in June.
