Sewing on a Sunday

Today I went to the craft store to get some yarn for the scarf that I am knitting.  While I was there I noticed some fabric quarters.  So I decided to try and sew an owl cushion.  I saw one a few weeks ago and really wanted to and try make it.  So I drew a picture of an owl on an A3 piece of paper and decided to go from there.

The last time I sewed anything other than a button, I was in my senior years of High School when I decided to do Home Economics.  I did really well in sewing class in Year 8 but when I got to Grade 11 and 12 those skills disappeared and I almost killed the sewing machine. So 10 years on I tried it again and I am really pleased with the results.

Sorry I'm still new to blogging and keep forgetting to take photos.  Half way through I remembered and broke out the camera.

This is the general shape of the owl and the front colours.
I really love this mix of brown and blue. And the yellow is a nice contrast.

After having a small fight with the thread finally back on track getting the wing on.
The photo makes it looks much darker then it is.

Wilfred (That's his name) is now ready to get stuffed.
I never thought I could do this in a few hours.

Wilfred the wise owl in finally finished. I know his eyes are a bit mad but I like his individuality.

This is the back of Wilfred. A sweet natural design.

My niece was over watching me put it together. She wants one now but she is putting orders in for animals I'm not sure how to make so that'll be interesting.
After my last sewing experience the success of this was a bit of a shock.
